"I personally think that studying abroad is not only getting knowledge, but also discovering something new. One of my desires is meeting different people of different nationalities, cultures and also with different lifestyles and points of view. The diversity will help me to feel myself a member of the global community. All of these would be a big life experience and as we know experience is the best teacher.”
I felt like I owe you some stories to share when I was in Penang. But I felt like I got no time to write or perhaps I was confused to arrange what things I want to write over here. In my mind, I want to share from the very first time I got this opportunity but the truth is, I don't literally remember in detail because you know it's been 3-4 years ago 😂. So.. I decided to write about my greatest experience that is still hit in my head.
When I was there, there were many exchange students from various countries as well. They are, Morocca, Finland, Korea, Japan, German, Sweden, Italy, Austria, Thailand, and many more. There are like 200 photos more from my album, so I just pick some to put it right here.
Orientation Week - August 2016
Before entering USM, we had an orientation week for three days. That was really fun! We had a lot of games. I love the buddies who arranged these things.
Can you find me on this picture?
There would be an International Cultural Week, so the buddy asked us to show our performance from each country. At that time, we decided to perform a dance from a traditional song.We took our time till evening to practice dancing. It was difficult.
We had our brunch while listening Gisella's story.
Indonesian Team were practicing Sajojo's dance.
International Cultural Week
It's time for a group from each country to show off their performance on the stage. hhhmm.. I cannot wait to see.
Korean performed their korean dance.
Thailand students also performed their dance from their traditional song.
And it was us. We performed Sajojo. We asked people on the floor to dance together with us.
The best performance came from Japanese students. They were so energetic.
Another best performance came from buddies. They showed Indian dance on the stage. It was remarkable.
Batu Feringgi
On the next day we went hiking(?) I guess. I completely lost. But I vividly remembered that we climbed and went up then we played games right there. There were many trees as well.
International Food Festival
So USM hold bazar and asked us to sell our food from each country. I really like Onigiri. I bought that for 6 and I ate that by myself.
Japanese Bazar
Finland Bazar
Korean Bazar
France Bazar
Germany Bazar
Color Fun
So it was basically threw something to your friend and in order to avoid that, you need to run as fast as you can. But who didn't want to get hit by this?
Strolling Around Georgetown
On the sunny day, Sayaka took initiative to go to Georgetown and she just bought tongsis 😱. I've never been there so I was in. It took much time to go there by bus but everything paid off when we arrived. There are many street arts over there. Sadly, I didn't take many photos right there.

International Cultural Night
If before was the performance during Orientation Week, this one was the biggest. There were some designers and asked some students to wear it as role model to show off on stage. They performed some acting as well. Psst, there was Chakra Khan and he sang two songs on stage 😱

Gala Night
In the end of our semester, USM always hold Gala Night for like saying goodbye. It consisted of Buddies, Exchange Students, and Lecturers. In Gala Night that year, the theme was about Disney.
Well those are some events that I joined when I was there. So many beautiful memories and full of joy.
