MY LIFE IN PENANG, MALAYSIA (EVENTS)

"I personally think that studying abroad is not only getting knowledge, but also discovering something new. One of my desires is meeting different people of different nationalities, cultures and also with different lifestyles and points of view. The diversity will help me to feel myself a member of the global community. All of these would be a big life experience and as we know experience is the best teacher.”
I felt like I owe you some stories to share when I was in Penang. But I felt like I got no time to write or perhaps I was confused to arrange what things I want to write over here. In my mind, I want to share from the very first time I got this opportunity but the truth is, I don't literally remember in detail because you know it's been 3-4 years ago 😂. So.. I decided to write about my greatest experience that is still hit in my head.

When I was there, there were many exchange students from various countries as well. They are, Morocca, Finland, Korea, Japan, German, Sweden, Italy, Austria, Thailand, and many more. There are like 200 photos more from my album, so I just pick some to put it right here.

Orientation Week - August 2016
Before entering USM, we had an orientation week for three days. That was really fun! We had a lot of games. I love the buddies who arranged these things.

Can you find me on this picture?

There would be an International Cultural Week, so the buddy asked us to show our performance from each country. At that time, we decided to perform a dance from a traditional song.We took our time till evening to practice dancing. It was difficult.

We had our brunch while listening Gisella's story.

Indonesian Team were practicing Sajojo's dance.

International Cultural Week
It's time for a group from each country to show off their performance on the stage. hhhmm.. I cannot wait to see.

Korean performed their korean dance.

Thailand students also performed their dance from their traditional song.

And it was us. We performed Sajojo. We asked people on the floor to dance together with us.

The best performance came from Japanese students. They were so energetic.

Another best performance came from buddies. They showed Indian dance on the stage. It was remarkable.

Batu Feringgi
On the next day we went hiking(?) I guess. I completely lost. But I vividly remembered that we climbed and went up then we played games right there. There were many trees as well.

International Food Festival
So USM hold bazar and asked us to sell our food from each country. I really like Onigiri. I bought that for 6 and I ate that by myself.

Japanese Bazar

Finland Bazar

Korean Bazar

France Bazar

Germany Bazar

Color Fun
So it was basically threw something to your friend and in order to avoid that, you need to run as fast as you can. But who didn't want to get hit by this?

Strolling Around Georgetown
On the sunny day, Sayaka took initiative to go to Georgetown and she just bought tongsis 😱. I've never been there so I was in. It took much time to go there by bus but everything paid off when we arrived. There are many street arts over there. Sadly, I didn't take many photos right there.

From left to right :
Zaenal Abidin, Sherra Rizka, Sayaka, Rizky, Nurul Komara, Simon, Qudoos, Karnengsih, Irmanti, Haruka, Yu Yamada.

Jump Street
I didn't know what the name exactly was but it was written jump street 😃. Gisella saw this online brochure from USM page then we went there.

Rizky, Cut Mutia, Gisella, and Chris.

International Cultural Night
If before was the performance during Orientation Week, this one was the biggest. There were some designers and asked some students to wear it as role model to show off on stage. They performed some acting as well. Psst, there was Chakra Khan and he sang two songs on stage 😱

Irmanti, Rizky, Karnengsih, Sherra, and Nadya.

Can you spot Chakra Khan on this picture?

Gala Night
In the end of our semester, USM always hold Gala Night for like saying goodbye. It consisted of Buddies, Exchange Students, and Lecturers. In Gala Night that year, the theme was about Disney.

Well those are some events that I joined when I was there. So many beautiful memories and full of joy.

EVERY SECOND COUNTS

Recently, a friend of mine had a discussion about a job with me. He said it was such a pity if we ended up to not work in a field where we were graduated. "What is the use of going to University for 4 years if I finally work in a place which is not related to my study?" This made me reflect about how I used to think back then. "I don't want to work if I'm not going to be a Public Relations Officer. Period." But hey that's totally fine. The truth is, you can get knowledge in anywhere. You don't even realize when you sit down on the train, listening to people's conversation. or when you watch a movie or youtube, or when you debated with your parents or partner. You absord those knowledge. Eventhough if it's just a little. "But what is knowledge? It is something that is everywhere. In my line of work, as a development professional, it is in every discussion, in every handshake, in every discipline, in every role and responsibility, in the ...

HI 2022!

Hello 2022! Let me say that 2021 is the worst year ever in my entire life. But it actually could be the best year which I have to be grateful for eventhough it is kind of hard to find silving linings :) In 2021, I learned a lot about mental health and self love. I used to think that self love is similar to self reward when you have to buy something expensive or something you wish before because you just achieved something else. I mean that is completely okay. But, if I always rely on that statement, I will never truly happy. There are too much insecurities in myself. I can get rid of some of them and the rest is I am still struggling until now. Okay, where do I start? Writing Blog If you've been following my blog for years, you'll know that I write a lot and delete my posts again. The only one reason is because I'm insecure with my own writing and I tend to compare it with other people writings who are more powerful than me. But starting last year, I started to be active in...

HOW IS IT LIKE PLAYING SIMS TAUGHT ME

"Okay it is still at 12pm, I need some hours to build this amazing house. Wait, it is at 5pm right now. Fair enough I will finish it after I create my lovely sims. OH crap.. it is at 10pm now for real? Okay I will end it by waiting the kids graduate from university." aaannd... I finally close my laptop at 1am :) Have you ever spent your whole day by playing Sims? I bet you would did the same way like me because that game is super addicting. I mostly spent my whole day by playing sims. Either it is for building a house, creating sims, making lots of generations, or trying some things new which I never knew it before.  My only one question is, can my life as perfect as sims I create? The answer is definetely NO  Back when I was in primary school until elementary school, I like to play doll, barbie, houses, and cooking. and when I turned into senior high school, I started to design some houses through books. Once it finished, I sometimes played it by myself in my free time. Talk...
